How do I do a normal update? I'm on 2.18-1-1 and I want to go to the latest version. #608

Just trying to figure out the most painless way to update. I dont want to have to reconfigure my network card, setup or security items etc. I was hoping to just in-place upgrade the driver to the latest. |

In-place updates work fine in my environment. However, since there have been reports that uninstallation was necessary, it's not guaranteed. Even in that case, basic settings like the IP address should be preserved. |

Apologies... maybe I didnt phrase this correctly. It's been so long since my install of this that I dont even remember HOW to execute an update. I know the command "sudo install -m 4755 -o root -D /var/packages/r8152/target/r8152/spk_su /opt/sbin/spk_su" is listed on some pages. But I dont know how to give it the right SPK file, or if I need to do other steps? I checked the wiki for update in place instructions and didnt find any. Maybe i'm missing something? apologies. It's been like 2 years and I'm not a network guru. |

Use the Package Center within DSM. Initiate a Manual Install of the updated package. |

OK so it's same instructions as an INSTALL. I guess that makes sense. I followed the install guide exactly and just left the old driver running as I did it. Seems Synology correctly replaced the existing rather than installing a new one side by side. |
