Crop module: How to reset crop without resetting aspect to freehand

While technically correct, I find myself very often played by Crop module changing the Aspect back to freehand on resetting the module. I'm using the original image for most of my images. In most cases I just want to reset the crop and start over.

Now my question would be if others notice a similar issue in their workflow, which would justify a change in this behavior.

Ideas on how this could be handled

A: User defines their own reset value for aspect

• could be set in the overflow menu, similar to OpenGL settings
• this is limited to one Aspect setting, so use case is limited again (to someone like me)

B: Aspect can be toggled to be excluded from reset module

• could be set in the overflow menu, similar to OpenGL settings
• this way of settings for modules does (to my knowledge) not exist for other modules - so that's bad

C: Add a reset margins button

• instead of having to double click all margin sliders, have one button to reset them all
• we don't have reset buttons inside modules as of now

The reset button in module's header must reset all the parameters that change the image.

what about a contextual menu on right-clic in the central view, with a "reset cropping area" option ?

That would allow for "Reset will set Aspect to Original image", which is my preferred workflow. The question remains, what is the default value for Aspect. I see how resetting to "Freehand" is more general, but I would like to hear from other people's workflows.

That is a nice addition, but right-click menu should only shortcut actions, that are available in the module/ menus.

Ok, I phrased it as a rule, when it was my opinion. In this case, I'm afraid that it is hiding the functionality in the right-click menu. So I would argue the functionality needs to be presented in the module first.

To me this is different to right-clicking on a mask for example, where I'm basically asking "give me more options on this".

I too find the original aspect ratio to be a sane default.
