Artisan Roast Scope 3.1.4 - Alarm set activation causes all alarms to disappear

Problem Description

Artisan version: 3.1.4 (Algrano)

Use case:

Alarm sets are being used to automate the roasting process with different alarms based on coffee bean type. This requires switching alarm sets between roasts, and saving edits to existing alarm sets.

Issue & steps to reproduce:

• When "store alarm set" button is used to save an alarm set, the alarm set saves successfully.
• The alarms that are already active in the alarms tab remain active and working.
• After the next alarm is triggered in the active alarm set AFTER saving the alarm set, all alarms in the alarm table suddenly disappear with the alarms table going completely blank.
• If the alarm set saved just before is selected and activate alarm set is pressed, the alarms are re-activated and re-appear.

Severity: Critical

Impact: Alarm sets can disable without warning and cause major issues in roast automation, safety warning alarms, etc.

Issue may be reproducible in new versions. My machine manufacturer (Coffee Crafters) has advised against using new Artisan versions beyond v3.x due to PID reconfiguration that is not currently optimized for my machine's PID controller.

Please verify issue is reproducible for you in v3.x and new version, and advise if fix can be applied to any prior versions.

Could you add one more details on "Steps To Reproduce". Are you doing all those steps while currently roasting and alarms are processed?

Sorry. I am currently not able to reproduce this and thus not able to fix it. I need a more detailed list of steps on what you are exactly doing (opening/closing Alarms dialog, switching tabs in the Alarm dialog),..

Hello, for your question "Are you doing all those steps while currently roasting and alarms are processed?" - Yes this is during roasting while artisan is recording and alarms are active and triggering. It did occur 2-3 times in the past, but it doesn't happen every time and it seems like it might only happen if switching alarm sets while an alarm was in the process of triggering. I also saw there were a few instances of Artisan viewer open with other profiles which may have been causing artisan to respond very slowly.

My system is windows 11 and not Mac OS (written by mistake). Intel N95 1.7 Ghz and 8GB ram. I only have 1 video call running in a browser along with artisan on the computer during roasting. What has helped is changing the process priority for Artisan to realtime in task manager which is making artisan respond much faster, and ensuring that I don't change alarm sets during roasting while other alarms are active and triggering. The issue doesn't occur this way. Maybe alarm sets should not be changeable while scope is recording to prevent alarms from crashing. Thanks for reviewing

Thanks for reporting! This issue turns out to not be due to alarm set activations. Exiting the Alarm dialog from the Alarm Sets tab caused the alarm table to be lost the next time the dialog was opened. This problem is fixed in the continuous builds and will be included in the next Artisan release. Please give the continuous build a test and let us know.

It seems your manufacturer, or rather Jason from Hermetheus Co-Pilot, in the mean time has released updated configuration files for the current Artisan v4.0.2 which will work the same way with that continuous release Dave pointed you to. You can find them under "Software & Settings" on their downloads page.
