Lag in readings?

I am using a Aillio Bullet R1 V2. I just upgraded from Artisan version 2.8.4 to the latest version 3.0.2. Everything worked well before the upgrade. But now when roasting the display of events and temps/activities lags the roaster by about 60 seconds! The display in Artisan accurately displays and graphs what happened in the roaster, but not for 60 seconds. I believe I have everything setup like previously setup. I saved the settings file and loaded that after the upgrade. What could be the problem? It used to lag by about only 2-3 seconds on the older version.

Actually, I misspoke. I updated Artisan from version 3.4.0 to version 4.0.2 last week. Sorry. Is it not recommended to load an old settings file for a previous version when updating across that many versions? Should I start over with a clean settings file?

Also, I have attached the settings file that is loaded in Artisan now. I appreciate any insight you can give.

I do not see anything obviously wrong with your settings. There should never be an issue using older settings with a more recent version of Artisan. We work pretty hard to keep that compatibility. However, since you have a backup to restore these settings at any time, it may be helpful to do a factory reset (Help>> Factory reset), restart Artisan and load the appropriate Aillio machine setup (Config>> Machine). See if the lag goes away.

This is a strange problem. There is nowhere in Artisan that readings could be buffered for nearly 60 seconds. There have been no intentional changes affecting the Bullet interface.

Let us know how it goes.

Note: Artisan v4 introduced operating modes so after the factory reset use Config>> Modes to select Expert mode to re-enable the full menus as seen in earlier versions.

That's what I thought, regarding backwards compatibility. Just so I completely understand, you are recommending to do a factory reset, load machine. Then do I load my saved settings file?

No, we want to know if you see the same or different behavior with the default Aillio settings. You should not have to do a real roast to tell. Run for a short while to see if the data still has a large lag, then shut it down.

It appears to me that there is no lag when doing a reset and looking at the readings on the Bullet when empty. I don't have any sampling settings, obviously. I am guessing that the next move would be to try and run with the factory reset and just adjust the settings that I wanted from there? Must be something wrong with the settings file that I imported?

Loading a machine setup configures only the settings required by that machine. That means that some previous setting will be left unchanged. Factory reset returns all the settings back to defaults. Thus you should only need to use the factory reset once, just before you load a machine setup. It is not strictly required, but the factory reset insures everything is in a known configuration.

Since you don't see a significant lag you should try a full roast with the new, clean machine setup. From there you can modify/adjust the settings as you need. Frequently backup your settings (Help>> Save settings). This settings file will include all the settings, which makes it easy to restore back to a known point. Note that it is not necessary to do a factory reset before loading a settings file.
