Window auto expands too much

Problem Description

Forgive me if this isn't a bug but it's a new issue and I haven't been able to figure out where to adjust this setting, if possible.

When I first start roasting, the window is as wide, by time, as how I set it under 'Axes...' In the past, when my roast would start to push past this time, the window would expand by a few minutes and that worked out great. In this latest version, the window expands by nearly double, cramming everything to the left side of the screen and leaving a huge empty gap on the right side of the screen. I've attached before and after screenshots.

Is this a bug or is there actually a setting where I can control this? Thank you.

This seems not to be an implementation issue. The relevant code was not changed for many versions. Thus I convert this into a discussion.

Not sure what this video should demonstrate. I see that the RECORD Max is set to 16:00 and this is exactly the x-axis limit set on START of the recording.

Is there a way to fast forward through a test or simulated roast so I can more quickly analyze this issue? In the Axes setting, I just set the first Max at 1 minute and the RECORD Max at 3 minutes (just so I wouldn’t have to wait through 11 minutes of simulated roast) and when the time got close to one minute, the window expanded to something like 10 minutes, not 3 minutes. This is the issue I’m having, that I haven’t had in years of using Artisan: the window is expanding way too much. You could use the build-in simulator. Load a profile and start the simulator under menu Tools.

Hm. This is not the intended behavior thus there might be a bug introduced in this version. I tried to duplicate it using RECORD max set to 3 as you suggest and couldn't duplicate the issue. The extension was just to 4:30 as expected. You must have some setting differently than I do. Could you export your artisan-settings.aset file (menu Help >> Save Settings), rename it to end in .txt and drag-and-drop it here on GitHub on a comment field?

Just did half simulator when it doubled the running axis width. Let me know if additional files/info needed.

Did turn this back into an issue. The implementation indeed changed in v3.4 taking into account the sampling rate which led to this erratic behavior. I will improve this such that it will behave again as the Artisan versions before v3.4.

A quick fix for you is to set the sampling rate to 1sec (which is quite fine for Phidgets) and potentially increase the Delta Step (from 10s to 20s or 25s) to get somewhat smoother RoR lines (menu Config >> Curves, 2nd tab Filters).
