How do I use this on an A/B device? (yes I know this isn't really an issue)

I couldn't find any other way to contact you, and this is a great script I want to make use of. The problem is, I have an A/B device, meaning that the recovery partition is within the boot partition.

So how do I use this script on that? is there a way to unpack the boot partition and get out a recovery image from it?

My script only works for TWRP (and not even all versions, quite likely). How did you install TWRP on your device? If you did, then you should have the recovery image that needs patching: apply my script, then install it over the existing one.

Keep the original TWRP at hand: should the patched recovery have problems, you can simply revert.

I don't actually have the TWRP that is in my boot.img, if I did, I would have no problems. I only have a boot.img with the twp recovery built in, as it's an A/B device. So how can I extract the twrp image from the boot image? I f I can do that, I know how to use your script.
