[question] Why so big?

It's simple. I used Meshroom 2023.1.0 up until now and I decided to update.

Meshroom 2023.1.0 was 1.2 gigs in size, unpacked.

Meshroom 2025.1.0 is 13 gigs in size PACKED.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure there's no library duplication or vibe code?

The package is this large because it includes the image segmentation model. See: #2839 (reply in thread)

Unfortunately it seems we'll just have to deal with it for now.

If you don't need anything that's related to the segmentation, you can remove the content of the "plugins" folder. It's the one that takes pretty much all of the space because it contains the segmentation models (~6Go unpacked) as well as all the required libraries (~5Go) for the segmentation nodes to run correctly out of the box.

So if you're only interested in the photogrammetry pipelines for example, you do not need them thus you can get rid of that folder. It won't prevent Meshroom from running correctly.

Can you guys include it as an optional plugin? Downloading 13 gigs to remove 11 is a waste of my limited internet traffic...

Application and model data should be separate downloadable package.

As a first time user, i have to say this felt weird, and I thought the download package was compromised.; I stumbled upon this before starting the download to make sure it was normal.
Maybe a "light"/"photogrammetry" and "full" options could be a way to go?
