Hi.

Greetings - it's been a while.

Q: I am told that 5.3 is to have enhancements to the label widget. Is this the only thing that will impact the JSON theme structure?

Hi,
It should not have any impact on existing JSON files because a hard-coded check has been implemented to add the attributes that are missing.
The default values for these new attributes are chosen so that the rendering of the widget will be exactly the same as before.

Thanks, but I need to take account of any new attributes for CTk Theme Builder. Hence the need for specifics.

In v5.3.0, just "border_width" and "border_color" have been added to CTkLabel.
As reported in this discussion, I've just uploaded the new version to PyPI under a new name, but given the huge changes I've performed to the ThemeManager in the develop branch, I would suggest you waiting a little bit before updating your project since in the near future it will require a total rework.

OK — I’ve already made some allowance for the new border_width and border_color properties in my tooling.

A couple of observations from a theming/tooling perspective that might be worth considering:

1. I noticed that CTkLabel.text_color_disabled appears to have been removed. Is there a plan to reintroduce this?
   From a UX perspective, labels associated with disabled widgets benefit from a distinct visual state — otherwise it can create ambiguity around whether a control is active or not.

2. If you’re planning a significant overhaul of the ThemeManager, one thing to be mindful of is how composite widgets are handled.
   In my experience, shared or cascading colour definitions across widgets can lead to unintended side effects, where changing one widget’s appearance impacts others.

   It may be worth considering a model where each widget has explicit control over all of its colour properties, even if defaults are derived centrally. That tends to make theming more predictable and easier to reason about, especially for tooling.
