I don't understand the licenses. There is the same code in Phyton and C++. Phyton is in the MIT license. The C++ code is in GPL. If I now take the Phyton code and port it to C++, do I have an MIT license?

Hi. Yes, the Python code is under the MIT license and you can port it to whatever you like. The Python version works very well and handles complex polygons. The C++ version has some nuances that also cover a few edge cases, but I doubt you’ll run into those. Give me a star and I’ll be happy. Have fun coding!

I don't think I expressed myself well enough.
When I port the phyton code to c++ it looks like I took the c++ version and modified it a bit. It would look like I used GPL code which would be problematic.

Could you also put the C++ version under MIT? Or what would a license cost for a commercial product with a turnover of about 50 dollars per month?

Hi again. TriangulateOBJ.h was developed to load very large OBJ files very quickly (files in the GB and even TB range). It is not the fastest, but it is among the fastest available on GitHub. A significant amount of work went into achieving this performance, which is why I have applied stricter licensing to TriangulateOBJ.h. I do not plan to change this.

You mentioned that when you converted the Python file, Triangulate.py, it became very similar to TriangulateOBJ.h, but only in terms of the triangulation logic. Triangulate.py only performs triangulation and does not handle any file parsing. Therefore, please feel free to continue using your C++ conversion of Triangulate.py.

I can provide you with a certificate of approval for this.

I'm also working on a new version of TriangulateOBJ.h that delivers even better performance, though it hasn’t been made public yet. While the current TriangulateOBJ.h is single-threaded, the new parser is built as a multi-threaded solution. Once it's ready, I will create a separate repository and publish it here on GitHub. Please note that it will be released under a more restrictive license and not under MIT.

I was too imprecise again. I have no interest in the OBJ part. I already have arrays with vertices and indexes of a mesh and want to triangulate them. So I only need the 2-3 functions that check and do that. Would you give me permission to implement these functions in my code? No matter if they come from the phyton or c++ version? It would probably look almost the same. That's why I'm contacting you.

To be honest, I'm a bit scared. The part I need is under two licenses. MIT and GPL. While MIT is good, GPL is just a nightmare. So I'm afraid that if I take the MIT code you might sue me because you might say that I took the GPL code. I used my Google e-mail address.

This is unfortunately a chicken and egg problem I think.

Triangulate 3D polygon

Triangulate3DPolygon is a header-only file offering a template-based solution for triangulating three-dimensional, non-complex polygons. This solution is self-contained, requiring no external libraries except for the inclusion of <vector> and <cmath>.

This one is even MIT licensed! Couldn’t you just use this one instead? (Its mine and stress tested hard)

Unfortunately, it does not solve the problem. Perhaps it will become clear if I show you a screenshot. Let's take the convex function. Same code. Different licenses. I am not a lawyer and do not know if I could use this function commercially. Therefore I would be happy to get your permission. I would mention you in the source code and link to your Github. The source code is always included with my plugin.
