Removing ConfigurationManager / xml App.config usage?

We are in the process of upgrading all of our endpoints to dotnet core and there are a few settings in here that still need the older xml app.config

Any plans on adding another way to do this (by code, preferably)?

We are planning on removing the configuration manager, but have no ETA for that yet since appsettings should still be working in .NET Core.

It is a workaround, but having a separate config file just for this is not desired. Looking forward to an improvement.
