This issue is unique.
Your idea.
Problem:
In ONLYOFFICE, when Track Changes is enabled, the "Final" display mode shows the document clean (without markup), but blocks editing and saving. To continue editing, you must switch back to the cluttered "Markup" mode.
Expected behavior:
A new mode (or modification of the existing one) that allows:
- Displaying the document in "Final" mode (clean, no visible changes)
- Full editing (add, delete, format) while in this mode
- Continuing to track new changes in the background
Why this matters:
This is how Microsoft Word (Final mode allows editing) and LibreOffice (Show changes → Final mode allows editing) already work. ONLYOFFICE is the exception – and not in a good way.
Note regarding existing issue ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors#1042:
I see issue ONLYOFFICE/DesktopEditors#1042 (about inability to save in Final mode). This is a new feature request – asking for a deliberately designed mode that combines clean view with active editing, following the behavior of competing office suites.
