Understanding MiKTeX Portable

I am using MiKTeX Portable.

The last time I used MiKTeX the console was different (It was running miktex-taskbar-icon.exe).
Back then MiKTeX console would leave some registry entries.

What about the current console?
I can see it is launched using --hide --mkmaps, do they make the Portable Mode?
Is there anything left with the Portable installation (Registry, something in APPDATA / USERPROFILE)?
