Support for Linux

since i see it more often, that players are switching to linux, it might be good to add Support for it for the next release version.

Hello! I'd also really like to see a Linux version. Unfortunately not many parts of the server-side are reusable, so it'd basically boil down to redoing that entire thing for Linux. If you scroll through the issues you can see some other people have worked on that before.

I don't really have anything to test on apart from a Linux server via VNC/X over SSH, or my work laptop, but I think it should not be too difficult to do - I think it would be a nice project for someone trying to wet their feet in programming on Linux.

I don't think the macOS version supports plug-ins, but that might have changed since.

I'm attempting to clone functionality of this project (https://github.com/macaon/ets2-local-radio-linux). Feel free to help test the telemetry bit (nearest city detection to begin with). Currently there is no auto switching of stations, and the country switch detection is iffy, but it seems feasible to get at least a subset of the features of ets2-local-radio working. Please keep in mind that this is built for the Linux native version of ETS2.

@Koenvh1 I've taken the liberty of grabbing stations from https://localradio.koenvh.nl/stations/stations-europe.js upon script execution. If you're not ok with this, please let me know and I will make sure the script works with local files instead.

Sorry for bombarding the threads but I just wanted to drop in here with a semi-related question now that Linux support is looking promising.

Has anyone looked into the possibility of building the telemetry plugin as a .dylib for macOS using the SCS Telemetry SDK? I know the main blocker for Local Radio on Mac is the plugin... The server and web UI should be fine to run natively, but without telemetry, there’s nothing to feed them.

From what I understand, SCS plugins can be compiled for macOS (since the game itself runs on Mac via Steam), so in theory, a native .dylib version of the plugin might be all that’s needed to unlock full support.

If anyone’s experimented with this or knows where to start, I’d love to help test. Even a basic working build would go a long way.
