Activitus Bar not showing anymore when using 'Remote - SSH' extension

After connecting to a remote ssh session the activitus bar shows up a short moment then disappears.
In "normal" sessions the bar still works.
In the past it worked perfectly for me.

I found an issue (Bar not visible when using Microsoft's new Remote - SSH extension #16) here, but that was solved a while ago.
However, the solution was to install Activitus bar on the remote host. I cannot remember if I did that in the past, but the extension does not show up on the remote host.

The workaround which was posted in #16 does not work as well

I also run into the same issue. Would really appreciate some help on this.

This happens here too, using the run-of-the-mill VSC extension for connecting to a local WSL (not sure it's the same extension)
