Ubuntu 24.04 and Linux Mint

Ubuntu 24.04 (and subsequently Linux Mint), have a bug with managing the GoXLRs channels resulting in it presenting as a 'Multichannel' device. This is due to an issue in the alsa-ucm-conf package, which was resolved shortly after the release.

To fix this on your distribution, you need to manually apply a fix:

• Using sudo, open /usr/share/alsa/ucm2/common/pcm/split.conf
• Locate Line 329
• Change Empty "${var:__Device}" to Empty "${var:-__Device}" (Note the additional -)
• Save and Exit

Once that change is made, you should be able to re-plug your GoXLR and the channels will come up correctly.

Running Mint (always kept up to date) for a few months now I had the GoXLR working fine and don't remember doing this until an update that came around new years. After some fiddling with it I remembered it was supposed to be an ALSA device which wasn't in the config options of PulseAudio. Found this and now I'm fine again.

You need to use sudo or edit as administrator. I would just use sudo from the terminal.
sudo nano </path/to/file.conf> and then save with ctrl+o and exit with ctrl+x.
