FAQs

Q. What is the nature and purpose of this event and what topics will be addressed?

A. This event features an opportunity for a broader audience of interested people to check out the final project presentations by teams who developed rapid prototypes and other projects in the "Napkins2Launch" January 2016 MIT IAP course. The Napkins'Launch course afforded a series of speakers, team-based hands-on projects and regular group discussion and focused feedback sessions for participants to aquire or advance skills by learning, inventing and building relevant things. A range of invited speakers, panelists and other guests will provide deeper context and insights about creative ways the blockchain technology can reduce cost, risk and other obstacles to blocking access to existing and new services, transactions and business models.

Q. What license terms, confidentiality or other legal restrictions apply to sharing content from this event?

A. This event is intended to foster the open, free exchange of ideas and foster the generation of creative ideas and innovations. This event will be live streamed via Google Hangout, archived on YouTube and freely accessible through other platforms, channels and services under Creative Common license. Contributions from registered participants during this event will be encoraged and all content from ticket holders, invited speakers, students and others will be included in the the live event and the event archives. All student project work and other content shared within this course has also been contributed under Creative Commons license.

Q. Will registered participants be able to offer ideas, pose questions or other contributions to the discussion?

A. Tentatively, we plan to offer opportunities fpr registered ticket holders to participate in discussion with top thought leaders, industry trend setters and MIT experts during question periods, discussion times and a special participatory brainstorming exercise. Registration is required to attend in-person and for access to the online interactive discussion and other web-based participatory engagement opportunities. If you enjoy informal social connection on Facebook, feel free to come by our community page at: http://Facebook.com/ComputableLaw

Q. The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

A. The name on the registration/ticket should match the name for each attendee because the registered user has agreed to share any content contributed during the event (ideas, comments, questions, etc) under Creative Commons license. However, participants and people who discover the event media later may nto be able to rely upon open license terms unless during the registration process all ticket holders have agreed to the same open Creative Commons license terms covering contributions of questions, comments, ideas or other content as part of this event. It is also good safety and operational practice to keep track of the number and identity of people who we are hosting in our buildings at any given time.

Q. If I just want to watch the Google Hangout OnAir Live Steam broadcast through the course website do I still need to register and agree to the Creative Commons license terms?

A. Simply watching the Google Hangout On-Air video streamed through MIT.edu/Law/blockchain does not require registration or agreement to Creative Commons licenses because for this event no interactive engagement involving contribution of questions, ideas or other content is available through that more traditional one-way broadcast video stream.
