In the regular build of firefox you can set up a custom syncserver by going to settings->about firefox and then tapping the logo 5 times. This exposes a few debug options in the settings menu. One of which is sync debug where you can set a custom syncserver url. This doesn't work in waterfox.
Waterfox does however expose about:config. Which I thought I may just set identity.sync.tokenserver.uri there. But the key doesn't exist by default. And if I add it it's still not being used.
So there is no way to use your own privately hosted syncserver on android.
