wireshark lua does not appear to disect signed packets

I've been trying to test QGC signing by inspecting the packets over USB between the FC and QGC (on Windows, using latest daily QGC, and Wireshard Version 4.4.14 (v4.4.14-0-g2e231b8d9926)..

I thought it just wasn't working, but when I turned OFF signing I start seeing MAVLink packets in the output.

So I think that the plugin just doesn't understand signed packets. Would be good to confirm, and ideally update the plugin such that it supports both signed and unsigned packets (and ideally shows when they are signed).

From a quick look at the generated Wireshark LUA file, it looks like it should support signed packets (at least the code is trying to!).

A few questions to get a bit more information about the scenario/setup here....

• Is Wireshark scanning the packets directly from the USB serial stream? (if it can do this, then thats news to me!)
• Or are you using an intermediary program to forward the packets from USB serial onto UDP? (if so, perhaps it is not doing so for signed packets?)
• Do the UDP packets show up in the Wireshark stream as un-decoded or unrecognised data? Normally they should do - even if no dissector can understand them.
